Cryogenic cold boxes and heat exchangers for demanding process duty
IGS supports enquiries for cold boxes, aluminium plate-fin heat exchangers, spiral-wound heat exchangers and associated cryogenic equipment packages. Each requirement is reviewed around the process duty, integration boundaries and project standards—not simply an equipment label.
The thermal core
The thermal core of the process
In many cryogenic processes, the cold box contains the heat-transfer and separation equipment that makes low-temperature operation possible. Its design must bring process performance, mechanical integrity, insulation, piping, controls, transportation and site installation into one coherent package.
That is why useful enquiries should define both the required duty and the interfaces around it.
Equipment in detail
From the exchanger core to the complete cold box.
Brazed aluminium plate-fin exchangers combine several process streams within a compact heat-transfer assembly. The surrounding cold box integrates the equipment, piping, insulation and structural enclosure into a defined package.

Multi-stream heat transfer
Stream composition, flow, phase behaviour, temperatures and allowable pressure drop establish the thermal design basis.
Connected equipment
Headers, nozzles, supports and material transitions must align with the connected piping and the mechanical design conditions.
Delivered as a package
Agree the internal equipment, inspection requirements, transport envelope, lifting arrangement and site connections before finalising scope.
Equipment reference imagery from technical literature. Configuration and supply scope are defined for each project.

Information for review
What to include with your enquiry
The process basis and operating cases establish whether a useful technical review can begin.
- Process description, PFD and available heat and material balance.
- Stream composition, flow, pressure and inlet/outlet temperatures.
- Thermal duty, allowable pressure drop and operating cases.
- Design, upset, start-up, shutdown and turndown conditions.
- Materials, cleanliness, inspection and testing requirements.
- Applicable codes, client specifications and documentation schedule.
- Plot, lifting, transport and module-size constraints.
- Battery limits and required site or package interfaces.
